Staycation at Compass Anna Maria Sound

We recently celebrated our 1-year wedding anniversary with a staycation on Anna Maria Island. Our trip included a stay at Compass Hotel Anna Maria Sound, a boutique hotel that recently opened on Anna Maria Island. This seaside destination is right before you go over the bridge to Anna Maria Island from State Road 64, and offers 123 rooms, a gym, pool and much more.

For our visit, we stayed in a deluxe room that included a balcony with beautiful views of the marina and Gulf of Mexico. The room itself was decorated with an overall coastal feel, and included premium Margaritaville bedding, rainfall-style showers and high-definition smart TVs. Even little items like the k-cups for the Keurig were Margaritaville themed!

Beyond our room, there was a wide variety of amenities to enjoy at the hotel. Downstairs in the lobby, complimentary snacks and flavored water were offered in the Welcome Cabana, and a gift shop was situated close by stocked with fashionable items, snacks and other treasures.

The pool itself reminded us of something you'd see in the Bahamas or Mexico as it was lined with palm trees and overlooked the Gulf of Mexico. The pool deck included hammocks for a lazy day spent in the sun, lounge chairs and tables with chairs.

On the property, there were two restaurants to enjoy. Floridays Woodfire Bar & Grill is located right next to the pool, which is where we dined for lunch. The baked crab dip was phenomenal and made with blue crab, cheddar and cream cheese, crispy cracker crumbs and then served with crackers and grilled bread. We split an Old South Fried Chicken Sandwich that was equally as good.

Inside the hotel, the Compass Bar & Grill featured appetizers, handhelds, bowls and an impressive drink menu. This restaurant also caters to the pool guests, so we ordered from here during our time spent at the pool. I highly recommend the Havanas and Bananas drink or the Piña Colada if you like frozen drinks!

You can start your day at Compass Anna Maria Sound on a delicious note with their complimentary breakfast. An array of freshly prepared breakfast items awaited us each morning along with classic choices like yogurt, cereal, toast and bagels.

One of the things that we loved most about our stay was the staff. It's true, first impressions last. From the moment we walked into the hotel, we were greeted with such friendliness and it lasted throughout the entire trip. It truly makes a difference when you're treated in such a pleasant manner when staying at a hotel!
