Sorrento Sweets in Sarasota, Florida

Authentic Italian bakery? Say no more! I recently had the opportunity to visit Sorrento Sweets in honor of National Girls Night, and we had the best time. One of the things I loved most about the bakery was the humble beginnings behind the business. Salvatore Paturzo, owner of Sorrento Sweets, took over his family baking business in Sorrento, Italy, and eventually brought the company to the United States to create what is now known as Sorrento Sweets. They currently have three locations (Port Richey, Sarasota and Tampa) and definitely show no signs of slowing down.

For National Girls Night, Sorrento Sweets planned an amazing evening for myself and some other local foodies at their Sarasota location. We started out the evening trying their new Frappuccino-style beverage, the Sorrentino, which comes in mocha, caramel or the seasonal pumpkin spice. Since I'm all about fall right now, I chose the pumpkin spice flavor. It was the perfect amount of pumpkin flavor. We also got to create our own Cake Cups - so yummy! If you're looking for a fun ladies' night or bridal shower event, this is definitely a sweet spot.

Along with cookies, cannolis, cakes and pastries, Sorrento Sweets also has sandwiches, coffee, tea, espresso, gelato and sorbet. Their made-from-scratch recipes date back to the early days of Salvator's family, and is something you definitely don't want to miss!

A special thank you to Sorrento Sweets for hosting us and Online Wine Today for providing bottles of Prosecco for the evening. To learn more about Sorrento Sweets, visit them online at SorrentoSweets.com!
