If you're in charge of Easter dessert this year, you might want to skip the predictable carrot cake! Everyone loves a good carrot cake, but switching it up from time to time keeps things interesting around the dinner table. This Easter Oreo Dirt Cake is filled with all the good things - think pudding, Oreos, cream cheese, powdered sugar and cool whip, and it only takes about 20 minutes to make. Just be sure to prepare it a few hours in advance so it has time to set in the fridge. My mom and I have been making this dessert for years and it's always a hit!
Ingredients:
1 package of regular Oreos
1 8 oz. bar of softened cream cheese
1/2 cup of softened butter
1 cup powdered sugar
2 8 oz. containers of Cool Whip
2 boxes of vanilla instant pudding mix
3 cups of milk
1 teaspoon of vanilla
Peeps
Edible grass
Pastel Colored M&M's
9 x 13 pan or smaller if you want to make two square cakes
Directions:
Crush 2/3 of the package of Oreos and then line the bottom of the pan with them.
Mix the softened cream cheese and softened butter until it is smooth, then mix in the powdered sugar while folding in the cool whip.
In a separate bowl, mix the pudding mix, milk and vanilla together. Let the mixture thicken for 5 minutes.
Fold the mixture into the cream cheese/butter/cool whip mixture and mix until smooth.
Pour the mixture over the crumbled Oreos in the pan.
Take the remaining Oreos and crumble them, then sprinkle it atop of the mixture.
Decorate with Peeps, edible grass and M&M's.
Let it set for a few hours in the fridge.
