20-Minute Easter Oreo Dirt Cake

If you're in charge of Easter dessert this year, you might want to skip the predictable carrot cake! Everyone loves a good carrot cake, but switching it up from time to time keeps things interesting around the dinner table. This Easter Oreo Dirt Cake is filled with all the good things - think pudding, Oreos, cream cheese, powdered sugar and cool whip, and it only takes about 20 minutes to make. Just be sure to prepare it a few hours in advance so it has time to set in the fridge. My mom and I have been making this dessert for years and it's always a hit!

Ingredients:

1 package of regular Oreos

1 8 oz. bar of softened cream cheese

1/2 cup of softened butter

1 cup powdered sugar

2 8 oz. containers of Cool Whip

2 boxes of vanilla instant pudding mix

3 cups of milk

1 teaspoon of vanilla

Peeps

Edible grass

Pastel Colored M&M's

9 x 13 pan or smaller if you want to make two square cakes

Directions:

  • Crush 2/3 of the package of Oreos and then line the bottom of the pan with them.

  • Mix the softened cream cheese and softened butter until it is smooth, then mix in the powdered sugar while folding in the cool whip.

  • In a separate bowl, mix the pudding mix, milk and vanilla together. Let the mixture thicken for 5 minutes.

  • Fold the mixture into the cream cheese/butter/cool whip mixture and mix until smooth.

  • Pour the mixture over the crumbled Oreos in the pan.

  • Take the remaining Oreos and crumble them, then sprinkle it atop of the mixture.

  • Decorate with Peeps, edible grass and M&M's.

  • Let it set for a few hours in the fridge.
