Over the last several years, Sarasota has been slowly adding more and more craft breweries and distilleries into the scene. I've always loved visiting places that offer tours (thanks, mom and dad) because it gives me a behind-the-scenes look at some of my favorite products and brands.
If you live in Florida or visit frequently, you've probably seen Siesta Key Rum whether it was out at a bar or in the liquor store. But did you know you can actually tour the place where the rum is made and even taste the goodness, all free of charge?
The Siesta Key Rum tasting room opened back in 2013 and it's definitely a hidden gem in the Sarasota area. The 45-minute tour offers a glimpse at the company's history, highlights some of the impressive awards the rum has won and explains why their products taste so good. They also dive into information like the production, barrel aging and packaging processes.
After the tour, you're able to taste some of the rums they have available. If you're looking to take some home, they also offer full bottles for sale! Tours are currently being offered 7 days a week. To register for a free tour, click here and to learn more about the distillery, click here.
