The next time you're visiting Atlanta, Georgia, make sure you add the city of Roswell as one of your destinations! Just 20 miles north of Atlanta, Roswell is a vibrant community that emphasizes outdoor activities, unique art and impeccable dining. My husband and I recently visited Roswell for work and we really enjoyed our time in the area. Below I've highlighted our experience and what you can expect on your visit!
Dining: With over 200 independently owned restaurants, there's a little something for everyone in Roswell! We chose to dine at 1920 Tavern, which is a speakeasy-style restaurant and pub in downtown Roswell. The globally-inspired cuisine featured impressive dishes that are perfect for brunch, lunch or dinner. The lobster and shrimp spaghetti was to die for and paired perfectly with my Aperol spritz. You'll definitely want to check this eatery out if you're interested in experiencing modern approaches to comfort classics.
Another spot we checked out was Roswell Provisions, which is located in the historic district of downtown. This quaint little shop offers more than just coffee, Here you can visit the market for some wine, cheese, olive oils and other delectable treasures. They have indoor and outdoor seating and the place is so cute, you might just find yourself hanging out for a few hours.
Outdoor Activities: If you love to hike, bike, camp or kayak, there are dozens of local spots where you can enjoy these outdoor activities. One thing I highly suggest is stopping by the Visitor's Center to narrow down exactly what you want to do since there are so many options.
We chose to check out the Vickery Creek Trail located at Roswell Mill. At the property, there are two historic mills, a covered bridge and a waterfall in Atlanta’s Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area. The hike itself was an easy feat and the view was fantastic! With all the hiking and biking, you'll forget you're just 20 minutes from the city life of Atlanta.
History: Roswell is full of interesting history that you may not expect! The historic area offers 640 acres of vintage homes, historic sites, museums, monuments, churches and cemeteries. The Visitors Center offers a self-guided tour brochure outlining all the must-see areas, so you can take your time walking or driving to all the destinations.
Whether you're in town for work, vacation or just a weekend getaway, Roswell is sure to offer an incredible experience for you and your family! Have you been to Roswell before or do you plan on going soon? Let me know in the comments below!
