Living in Sarasota, my family and I have always made weekend trips over to Disney since we're just a short drive away. Although I've definitely spent my fair share of time at the parks, but sometimes we just go over to hangout and relax by the pool. It's always nice to get away for the weekend and get wrapped up in the Disney magic!
Since we almost always stay at Pop Century or one of the three All-Star resorts, we wanted to stay somewhere new for this weekend getaway. We scored a really amazing deal at Art of Animation, which surprisingly enough, we've never stayed at.
Now if you're looking to be surrounded by the true artistry and magic of Walt Disney World and Pixar movies, this is a hotel you definitely need to add to your list! The resort is set up to pay homage to many of the Disney classics including Finding Nemo, Cars, The Lion King and The Little Mermaid. We stayed in The Little Mermaid room, which featured two double beds and was designed to show different scenes from the movie. It was so cute and I really just felt like I was in the movie. I'm a big Cars fan myself, so when we have a larger group, I'd love to stay in one of those suites.
One of my favorite aspects of this resort was The Big Blue Pool located right behind the check-in and dining area. Serving as the main pool for the resort, it's also the largest pool out of any of the Disney hotels. I really enjoyed how spacious it was and how you didn't feel like you were on top of everyone while you were trying to relax. It's also right next to The Drop Off (an outdoor pool bar) that served the BEST Frosé. Seriously, you have to try it when you stay!
Dining is also right at your fingertips with Landscape of Flavors, the on-site dining area. The restaurant offers breakfast, lunch and dinner, so you'll never have to worry about not being able to grab a quick meal. Most mornings I found myself enjoying a create-your-own omelette at the omelette station, but of course I couldn't resist the signature Disney waffles.
The convenience of staying at a Disney resort is really second to none. You're so close to the theme parks, you have various transportation options, you can do your laundry, there is merchandise delivery and pickup available and the list goes on and on. Whenever I stay somewhere else in Orlando, it just didn't have the same authentic Disney magic and I always miss that.
